Our third waterfront garden
As part of our mission to stimulate and promote the knowledge and love of gardening, to advocate for the natural beauty of our community and encourage the conservation of natural resources, we successfully raise funds each year. A portion of these funds are earmarked to be spent on worthy community projects to assist in that goal. In addition to the many gardens throughout the city which we maintain and add to annually, the Newburyport Horticultural Society has made donations over the last several years to many projects and organizations to benefit our community. These include several scholarships for area high school students pursuing a college degree in a horticultural related field, Friends of the Trees planting of four Cherry Trees at the Bartlett Mall and other unspecified community tree plantings, Bresnahan Elementary School gardening and curriculum projects, Nourishing the North Shore, Friends of Maudslay State Park for the planting of five dogwood trees as part of their pond restoration project, and a Newburyport High School grounds planting project. If you have a project you would like to be considered for funding, we encourage you to fill out the Request for Funding application and email or mail it to Karen Houston. Contact information is included on the form.
