Pollinator Gardens, Kim Smith
Garden designer, author, and film maker, Kim Smith of Gloucester will present a stunning slide show and lecture on how to create a welcoming haven for bees, birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. She will share two of her short film clips on the lifecycles of the monarch and swallowtail butterfly.

Museum Fine Arts "Art in Bloom" Roadshow
In collaboration with the West Newbury Garden Club, we will enjoy a behind the scenes presentation of the MFA annual event, Art in Bloom. One of their designers will create an arrangement interpretive of a painting, which will be raffled off to attendees.

Books in Bloom
Please plan to join us for our 5th annual fundraising event in collaboration with the Friends of the Newburyport Public Library. The library will be filled with an array of floral displays interpretive of the creator’s chosen book. Live floral demonstrations, music, silent auctions, and refreshments will make for a memorable evening. Tickets are $25 and will be available for purchase at the library front desk.

Invasive Species, Nancy Pau
A wildlife biologist for the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Nancy will talk about invasive plant ecology, some of the Refuge’s most problematic species and their ongoing control projects. We will learn about invasives we might find in our own backyards along with alternative native planting suggestions

Perennial Color: Spring Through Fall, Suzanne Mahler
Suzanne will take us on a journey through the growing season with a dazzling display of the hottest new perennials and tried and true favorites for both sunny and shady sites. Planting suggestions and combinations will be explored along with some design tricks to make the garden appear to be in continuous bloom.

Field Trip to Hilarie Holdsworth's Garden, Gloucester
Hilarie, a professional landscape designer and owner of Walker Creek Garden Design, is sharing her delightful and artistically designed garden which was featured in a 2012 Boston Globe Magazine.

Field Trip to Suzanne Mahler’s Garden, Hanover
We will be visiting Suzanne’s vast perennial gardens which include several hundred daylily cultivars in full bloom. As the former President of the Mass. Daylily Association, they are sure to be delightful! We will have the opportunity to visit her neighbor’s garden as well.

As an expert on habitat gardening and owner of Turkey Hill Brook Farm in Spencer, MA, Ellen’s program will focus on landscaping concepts that maximize habitat for birds. Shrubs which provide the best food, shelter, and nesting opportunities for our feathered friends will be discussed.

Miniature Boxwood Tree Workshop and Holiday Party
Make one to take home and one to be donated to a local nursing home resident. Boxwood, oasis, and containers will be provided. Please bring clippers, wire cutters, and small decorative additions such as glass balls, tiny ornaments, etc., along with a food item to share in celebration of the holidays. There will be a $10 member fee to offset material costs.
